  • Safety:
    • Keep your fingers away from the blade!
    • If you are taking off very little material, use a push block or push stick to help pass the material through the blade.
  • Important:
    • Before you cut aluminum or plastic: let a staff member know, the brake must be deactivated (as these materials are conductive and the brake is triggered via capacitance conduction) or else it will trip while use. If this happens you will have to pay to replace the brake (about $80) and the blade ($75-150) which will be destroyed as a result.
  • Blade Selection:
    • It is important to select the right blade for the cut you would like to perform.
    • Blades with more teeth yield a smoother cut. Blades with less teeth move material quicker.
    • If cutting aluminium or plastic, ONLY use the appropriate blade for that material.
  • Usage:
    • Line up your cut. Make sure you’re using the right blade, and that if you’re not cutting wood the brake has been removed by a staff member.
    • Adjust the blade height — the tip of the blade’s highest tooth should only be 1/4″ maximum above the material, about 1 tooth above.
    • Turn on the machine, wait for the blade to reach full speed.
    • Feed the material through the blade keeping an even and steady pace. If necessary use push blocks to help the material through the blade while keeping your hands as far away as possible.
    • If you are not cutting all the way through a material, shut the machine off before taking your material off the table, or pull it back.
    • If you are cutting a very large piece, get a spotter to help push the material through.
    • Also with very large pieces, be mindful of the dust collection system, move it out of the way if it will interfere with your pass through.
