Bosch 1617EVSTB Router and RA1171 Benchtop Table

Used to rout out (hollow out) an area in the face of a relatively hard workpiece, typically of wood or plastic.
  • Specifications:
    • Motor: 8,000-25,000, 2.25 HP, 12amp
    • Speed: Variable Speed Dial
  • Safety:
    • Do not wear gloves while using the router.
    • Tie back your hair if it is long.
    • Do not wear loose, dangling clothing.
    • All of the above may get caught in the tool, and get wrapped up in it.
  • Usage:
    • Feeding the router into material:
      • The most efficient cut is made by feeding the router so that the bit turns into the material, not away. For some materials, it is best to make several cuts of increasing depth so as not to overload the tool.
      • The rate of feed depends on the materials: on wood and plastics, the best finishes will occur if the depth of the cut and feed rate are regulated to keep the motor spinning at a high speed. Feed the router at a moderate rate — smoothly and steadily. Do not force it.
        • The softer the material, the faster the feed rate.
    • Setting the Speed:
      • The speed may be changed while tool is on.
        • Rotating the speed dial to the right increases speed; left decreases speed.
